For many years national breweries encouraged the consumer to move towards keg bitters, which have now been modified to be dispensed as smooth flow beers (also known as cream flow, nitrokeg, or just smooth). These keg beers are popular with drinkers as they offer a lovely smooth pint and can be ideal for sales in lower throughput situations.
